John Gaston, FSO-CS

Completed initial transition of FSO-CS responsibilities with Jim Samples. Jim has offered his services on an "as needed basis" until he goes north in April.

Gained access to and completed review of the Flotilla 96 "Beta Website". The template follows the Div and National format but content needs to be reviewed and approved by FC and VFC before going live with the new website.

Responded to three (3) blast email requests: 1 - VSC date/location announcement and 2 - General announcements from FC.

Set up new email address comserv96@comcast.net to handle all CS Internet communications.

Responded to two Flotilla computer requests. One: upgraded imaging software on Podium Laptop. Two:  installed icon on office computer desktop to open the Flotilla 96 blog.

Researching best methods and contacts at FMB or Division to assist with transition to beta website in Q2.

Other Activities: Compiled and summarized Flotilla Survey data received in December and distributed in graphic format to FC and VFC for review. R&R/PE Team to meet to review data, summarize key findings and plan next steps in the process to recruit new members and retain existing members.

Attended Naples Boat Show to review new imaging and comm equipment for "small boats.”  Garmin had the best array of inexpensive GPS Chartplotters that interface with depth sounders and radar. FLIR Imaging now has an infrared "night vision" unit priced below $900. This seems like a must-have for safety during night missions and/or SAR work.
