Excellent job to the nine ATON verifiers who have completed 7054 forms totaling 382 PATONs of our 398. That's an 84% increase from 2010. This month Bob Morrison, Heinz Janke, and Grant and Roberta Skaggs have completed forms verifying 87 PATONs. As a result only a few remain to be verified for the year.
On June 8 Dr. Phill Smith will coxswain a night patrol to view the lighted PATONs in our area of responsibility. With only a few updates we should then have viewed and reported all our PATONs for the Hurricane season. We still need to be vigilant for any that are damaged or missing so that we can report them in a timely fashion. Remember, not reporting a damaged PATON that is a hazard to navigation could cause damage to a boat or even loss of life.
Those wishing to qualify as PATON verifiers can still go out with a qualified verifier to meet the requirements for certification. Anyone wishing to qualify please let me know and I will help you qualify.
