In honor of National Safe Boating Week we scheduled three days for Vessel Safety Checks in May instead of the normal two. All three were at Lovers Key State Park boat ramp. We performed 51 Vessel Safety Checks for the month, and we are seeing an increase in the inspection of personal watercraft and kayaks.
It is important to inform boaters when we approach them that the results of the safety checks are not reported to any enforcement agency and that they will receive a decal if their vessel passes the examination.
The two scheduled June dates for VSCs are June 11th at Lovers Key boat ramp and June 25th at Wiggins Pass boat ramp. A big thanks to those who participated in inspections during the month of May.
