Damaged PATON 8A

An April 8 patrol with Grant Skaggs, Neil Arnal, Ginny Russell, George Stancil and Bobbi Skaggs discovered a damaged PATON (8A) in a channel to Mullock Creek.  As seen here, the PATON was clearly a hazard to navigation.

We called our watchstander, Emily Harris, who reported the sighting to STAFMB.  The following week the Local Notice to Mariners published by the Coast Guard included the damaged PATON.  Congratulations to all for quickly informing the boating public of a hazard to boating safety.  It could have saved a life.

Our flotilla completed verifications and sent in 7054 forms for 137 PATONs in April for a total of 295 this year. There is still work to do at Estero Point, Wiggins Pass, New Pass, and Spring Creek.  In April, three members provided PATON reports, making eight members for the year. Kudos to Neil Arnal for verifying over 100 PATONs on his 7054 reports.  Let’s try to complete all of our PATONs by the end of May.  Thanks for all the hard work by our verifiers and boat crews.

The Local Notice to Mariners, Light List, and Summary of Corrections are posted weekly at http://www.navcen.uscg.gov.
