No advance warning for SAR exercises. Mr. Kerner explained the call would most likely report a capsized vessel with persons in the water and it could be at night. Don’t be surprised to find a vessel in distress at that location. Be ready.
You must respond if you receive a call from the Call Tree system or the automated Everbridge system in severe weather so that we know where our Flotilla family is located. If you are going out of town or moving north, please notify the bridge of your location and contacts. The following members will initiate the calls when necessary: Bernie Appelman, Jordan Pollack, Heinz Janke, Mike Clukey and Len Jadrych.
We still need a full-time resident to work with the Lee County Emergency Operations Center.
National Safe Boating Week is scheduled for May 21-27.

Meeting called to order by VFC, Shuster at 1900 hrs. Shuster also led the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence in remembrance of our fallen armed services personnel was requested by FC Urbanek.
A motion to approve the minutes of the March 16th General Meeting was offered by Jordan Pollack and after due second by FSO-MT Jim Mayer, those minutes were approved by voice vote without dissent.

FC Urbanek called on CW04 Kerner for comments.
Kerner clarified that, due to a previous discussion concerning AUX assistance while on patrol, that the patrol must first contact the FMBCG STA.
He then offered special congratulations to FSO-IS Bob Morrison for being awarded the AUXOP Member Achievement Award.
Urbanek reported the Commander’s 4 priorites:

Urbanek next reported that he has not received any further information regarding the Open Water Festival, scheduled for June 9 thru 11 on Ft Myers Beach.

We still need a volunteer to work with the Lee County Emergency Operations Center. This individual must be a fulltime resident and willing to devote their time. Urbanek stressed that this is a big time commitment.
National Safe Boating week is scheduled for May 21st thru May 27th and FSO Arnal is organizing the Flotilla’s activities. He reported next on the recent fatality in Boca Grande and the importance of wearing a PFD.
Urbanek next reported that we will tighten up examinations of our vessel facilities. We have examined 228 vessels to date.
In concluding his report, Urbanek said that training at STAFMB would commence this coming Wed.

CM: The DSC System has stopped pinging and he has appealed to former FSO Zeek to provide assistance
IS: Everyone needs to turn in their hours on the 7029 form. Volunteer hours show what the Flotilla members are doing.
MT: AUX members interested in Watchstander training will be assigned a mentor and we will start training new Watchstanders by the end of April. The next course will be the IDC (Instructor Development Course). We are also formulating the next FLC (Flotilla Leadership Course) which is tentatively scheduled for July 9th. This is a one day AUXOPs course that is required for anyone seeking to run for elective office. The 8 hour TCT course is scheduled for June and October and will be held at STAFMB. Those in need of this requirement need to apply directly; however, please coordinate with FSO-Mayer.
PA: A speaking engagement was held for the “Over ‘50S Singles Club” at the 1st Presbyterian Church. This was coordinated by Virginia Russell. FSO Arnal reported on the quality of the dinner.
VE: There have been 228 VEs conducted this year.

FSO Gaston reported that there has been several instances of fuel being stolen from boats moored in the marina at Wiggins Pass.
The next fellowship gathering is scheduled for 12 noon May 13th at Coconut Jacks on Bonita Beach Rd. There will be separate checks and we can order from the menu. Please contact Jordan Pollack or Bernie Appelman for reservations. This is very important. If you will be arriving by watercraft; there are only a limited number of skinny slips available.
