The Bonita Beach Improvement Association asked me to attend their monthly meeting in November to discuss safe boating requirements along the Bonita Beach shoreline. They would like to know more about the role of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. BBIA has 452 members.
We have been planning for the upcoming National Safe Boating Week scheduled for May 21st thru May 27th. Flotilla 96 will team up with one of our PV partners, Bass Pro Shops. They want a Coast Guard Auxiliarist to help customers select the proper life jacket for their boating needs. Bass Pro Shops will set up a table in the front of the store so we can hand out safe boating literature and answer questions from the boating public.
We will increase the scheduled number of Vessel Safety Check days from two Saturdays to three Saturdays for the month of May in honor of National Safe Boating Week.
