The Coast Guard recently passed down a new and more comprehensive Personal Qualification Standard (PQS) that all new candidates for Aid to Navigation Verifier will have to meet before receiving their AV credential. Auxiliarists who already have their AV designation will not be required to meet the new standard but are encouraged to do so.
The booklet with all the information on the new PQS is on the Prevention Department website at http://pdept.cgaux.org/nsAidVerifier.html. Once on the site, look halfway down the page and click on the words ATON Verifier Performance Qualification Standard (AV PQS) Booklet.
