Name That Dummy Contest Winner

Herman Goes Overboard

Yes, Herman is the winning name chosen for that new member who awaits rescue by Flotilla 96.  Although nameless at the time, he was welcomed aboard by Larry Urbanek, Flotilla Commander, at the general meeting on July 20. Photo by Dave Shuster.

Herman is accident prone.  He will not assist in his own rescue, offering 150 pounds of dead weight for you to haul onto the boat.  Coxswains and crew will get special training before they can use Herman in man overboard exercises.  But before that training begins, instructors are busy learning how to do it themselves.

Thanks to Dave Shuster, who submitted the winning name, and to judges Bill Willsey, Bobbi Skaggs, and Al Lazzaro, who chose the winner from more than 30 names submitted.

Here Herman rests at dockside while awaiting his fate.
