George Stancil, Marine Safety

Here are some ways you can help stop pollution.

·   Carry a special container aboard for waste materials and don’t throw anything overboard.  Dispose of collected materials in receptacles ashore.
·     Be careful when fueling.  Do not top off the tank.  Be sure no gas or oil is discharged into the water.  Bilge pillows are very effective.  Follow manufacturer’s directions for use and disposal.
·      If you spill any amount of hazardous waste or oil into the water, you must notify the U.S. Coast Guard National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802 or contact your local Coast Guard Station.
