COMO Allen Brown administers the oath of office to Dave, Shuster, Flotilla Commander, and John Gaston, Flotilla Vice Commander, at the Change of Watch on Decembeer 15 at the Plican Isle Yacht Club
Staff officers for 2012Some old, some new, some scrambled but all are ready to go.
At the alphabetical top in Communications is Ed Walters, who moves from Human Resources and Materials to tackle a new and unfamiliar challenge. Ed is training to qualify for Telecommunications Operator. Next we find Allen Thompson back in Finance keeping an eye on our money. At Information Services, Bob Morrison is again making sure our activities show up in AUXDATA.
The Marine Safety job is in good hands with our most decorated veteran, George Stancil, leading the way. George Stancil (left) receives the President’s Volunteer Service Award for the third year in a row from COMO Allen Brown. Member Training will have the attention of Larry Urbanek, our immediate past Flotilla Commander and newly elected Division Vice Commander. Larry will be making sure that the higher standards he initiated are carried out.
Grant Skaggs, also a past Flotilla Commander, is relieving Roberta at the helm of Navigation Services. So many ATONs, so little time…
Ned Herrmann is a welcome addition to the ranks of staff officers and assumes responsibility for the vital on-water Operations that are our most important contribution to the active-duty Coast Guard.
Seasoned visitor Neil Arnal again heads the Program Visitation effort to bring our message to marine dealers and others who interact with the boating public. Neil takes on the dual task of Vessel Examination along with Program Visitation, after leading the flotilla to record-breaking VEs in previous years.
Greg Guederian, an Auxiliary veteran who is new to our flotilla, will head Public Affairs this year. Greg’s experience in photography adds to his value in this role.
Mike Clukey, who has long been working behind the scenes in Public Education, will now move up to relieve Phill Smith. This is our primary money-making enterprise, so it’s hard to over- emphasize Mike’s contribution.
Publications fall once again to Emily Harris, and William Willsey again assumes the job of Secretary/Records.
