For those who may not be familiar with the election process for the two elected offices at the Division level, Commander and Vice Commander, the Division Bridge and the Division Board vote for the candidates.
The qualifications for both Division Commander and Vice Commander are; 1) served at least one year on the Division Board (Flotilla Commander); 2) active for the twelve months preceding the election and currently certified in Vessel Examination, IT, or Operations. The other votes come from the Division Board, who are the nine flotilla commanders within the Division. This adds up to a total of 13 votes, plus the Commodore’s tie breaking vote when needed. If no candidate receives a majority vote of seven, then all but the two candidates who received the most votes are dropped. A second ballot is held immediately and the candidate with a majority of the votes is declared the winner. All voting is by secret ballot and the actual vote count is only known by the Nomination Committee
There were two candidates for Division Commander; Dave Crockwell, current Division Vice Commander; and Donna Stull, Chief QE for Division 9, and Flotilla Vice Commander at Flotilla 9-10. Dave Crockwell was elected as the Division Commander for next year.
We wish Larry well in his new office. By Dave Shuster
